How to receive a wheelchair for free?
If you or someone close to you needs an electric, manual, shower/toilet, or pediatric wheelchair, these can be obtained completely free of charge in Georgia. For this purpose, you or your legal representative should apply to the Agency for State Care and Assistance to Victims of Human Trafficking and Affected Persons, or send the required documents by mail.
To receive a wheelchair, you must submit the following documents:
- An identity document of the applicant, and in the case of a person under 18 years of age, a copy of the birth certificate;
- In the case of requesting a manual wheelchair, the assistive device may be issued on the basis of medical documentation form No. IV-100/a;
- To receive an electric or pediatric wheelchair, you must submit a medical-social expertise examination act – form No. IV-50/2.
When receiving any type of wheelchair, you also have the opportunity to simultaneously request a shower/toilet wheelchair.
